We Print Your Art and Images
Upload Your Own Single or Double Sided ID Card Design for Professional Plastic Card PrintingYou know that here at The Card Project UK we have a huge range of ID cards and also offer a Custom Design Service. But what if that isn't what you're looking for? What if you’ve already created your own design and want it printed onto a proper plastic card? Well this service is for you! Whether you’ve made a front-only layout or a design for both sides, you can upload your finished files and we’ll take care of the printing. No templates, no editing — just your artwork printed exactly as you’ve made it. This option is ideal for custom staff badges, cosplay props, club IDs, event passes, or any personal or business card you’ve designed yourself. It’s a print-only service for people who already have their design ready to go and just need a high-quality printed version. You can choose single-sided or double-sided printing, depending on your design. Upload one file for the front or two files if you’ve got both sides designed.
Print Your Own Design on a Plastic Card – Made to Credit Card SizeAll cards are printed onto smooth biodegradable plastic and are the same size as a standard bank card — 86mm by 54mm. If you’re designing your layout on a computer or phone, keep in mind that the real card is much smaller than it might appear on screen. Thin lines or tiny fonts can easily become hard to read when printed at full size. Stick to clear fonts and strong contrast to keep your text easy to read. Avoid fine lines or very light colours, especially for anything important like names, dates, or contact details.
File Size and Format for Uploading Your Own ID Card DesignTo get the best print results, you’ll need to follow a few simple file guidelines. Each design must be saved as an image file at exactly 1036 pixels wide by 660 pixels high. We print what you send without resizing or adjusting, so the size must be spot on. We accept files in PNG or JPEG format. These file types give clean lines and sharp colours. Screenshots or copied images often come out blurred or blocky when printed, so it’s best to upload original artwork saved at the correct resolution.
Keep Your Design Inside the Safe Zone and Add Bleed for Best ResultsWhen you’re placing text, logos, or photos in your design, make sure everything important stays inside a central area of 1028 by 652 pixels. This keeps content away from the very edge, where slight trimming can happen during production. If your design includes a background colour or image that reaches the edge of the card, extend it all the way to the full size — this avoids white borders. There’s no need to change the file size; just stretch the background to fill the canvas and keep your main content inside the safe zone.
Understanding Colour Differences Between Screen and PrintDigital screens show colour using RGB, but our printers use CMYK. This means printed colours may look a bit different from how they appear on your screen. Some shades come out lighter or darker, and subtle changes in tone are normal. To avoid surprises, use strong colour contrast and avoid very light text on pale backgrounds. What looks readable on a bright screen may be too faint once printed, especially at small sizes.
Avoid Common Upload Mistakes When Printing Your Own DesignBefore you upload your files, check them over carefully. Here’s what to watch out for:
We don’t adjust or fix files once they’re uploaded. If your file is blurry, misaligned, or has typos, those issues will show up in the final print. It’s always worth double-checking everything before placing your order.
