When your child has diabetes, sugar levels can drop or spike without much warning, and they might feel dizzy, shaky or confused before they can say what's wrong. Teachers or carers don't always know the signs or what to do straight away. This card makes it clear. It fits in a pocket or bag, shows their photo and name on the front with a short message about needing help if levels are off, and has emergency contacts plus a “How To Help” section on the back (space is limited, so keep it to a few lines). The card has a light mint background with clouds, a rainbow sun and cute little characters – hearts, fruits, syringes and glucose monsters, all friendly and not scary. On the front there’s their photo, their name in clear letters, and the fixed heading “I Have Diabetes”. Below is a message written as if from your child: it says their body needs extra help keeping sugar levels right, and if too high or low they might feel sick, dizzy or sleepy and need help right away.

On the back there’s space for two emergency contacts at the top, then the “How To Help” section. You can add whatever you like here - parents often add notes like “if I become confused or shaky I need fast sugar – glucose gel, sweets or sugary drinks” and “call emergency if I become unconscious”.
